Fiberglass is environmentally friendly because it requires less maintenance and will typically last longer then a tower made from either wood or metal. Wood or metal structures can not stand up to a corrosive environment like fiberglass can.  Each time a non-fiberglass structure is refinished it requires additional expenses and uses more materials.  A fiberglass tower with proper maintenance (like waxing a car) will typically last decades or more depending on the color (darker colors fade faster).

Our lack of significant competitors prohibits us from doing a direct comparison of product life cycle and maintenance. There are numerous wood lifeguard tower structures that dot beaches all over the U.S.  These, as testified by their clients, require frequent maintenance to assure adequate weather protection. If one calculates the cost of refinishing a wood or metal structure every two or three years it does not take long to have those expenses become significant. Even with continual maintenance, wood structures typically do not have near the lifecycle that fiberglass does in a corrosive environment. We provide recommended maintenance procedures to all our customers.
